NEWS: INDIANA AFL-CIO ENDORSES “OCCUPY” EVENTS ACROSS STATENEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release: Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011 INDIANA AFL-CIO ENDORSES “OCCUPY” EVENTS ACROSS STATE INDIANAPOLIS – Today Indiana State AFL-CIO President Nancy Guyott issued the following statement of support to the various “Occupy” events taking place throughout the state this weekend and next week. “It’s great to see so many Hoosiers taking a stand against the corporate takeover of our society. Corporate greed isn’t confined to Wall Street – and neither is their agenda. Here in Indiana, they are working to pass legislation to lower wages, roll back safety standards and silence workers’ voices. It’s a radical, anti-worker agenda that Hoosiers from all walks of life are rejecting. The Indiana State AFL-CIO salutes all those who are working to make their voices heard on these issues. It’s time that everyday working people take back our communities, our state and our nation and we hope these events are another step in that process.” The Indiana State AFL-CIO (American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations) is a federation of more than 800 local unions across the state belonging to 50 International Unions. In total, the Indiana State AFL-CIO represents more than 300,000 working Hoosiers. For more information on please visit www.in.aflcio.org or call 1-800-433-8423. ###
